How to Convince Your Dad to Give You Money

Have you ever wanted to ask your dad for money but were afraid to ask? With a little preparation, you can approach your dad and ask. You might even find yourself coming away with more money than you asked for!

Steps

  1. Convince Your Dad to Give You Money Step 1.jpg

Find your dad when your mom is not around. Having this conversation alone with your dad will help you open up to him, and it can also make the conversation feel like a father-child bonding moment, all of which can increase your chances of receiving the money. Asking when your mom or other adults are around can put negative pressure on your dad and prompt more questions about what you want to do with the money. Asking in the presence of your siblings will almost certainly mean that he will feel compelled to give them as much money as he gives you, which could mean less money for you.

  2. Convince Your Dad to Give You Money Step 2.jpg

Tell your dad why you want the money. Be honest and reasonable. Tell him how much you want and what you intend to spend it on. Support your claims with prior research and make a logical argument as to why you should get the money. If you do this well, he might choose to give you more than what you predict.

  3.
Thank your dad for whatever he gives you. If you do successfully convince him to give you money, thank him for it. This will show your appreciation for him as well as for money and prove to him that you take neither for granted. If he doesn't give you money, thank him for considering your request.
